Joel Rodriguez Mr. Thomas English 11 December 9, 2013 The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn (7-9) F. I feel as if Huck Finn is a very smart boy, not educated but intelligent. He is obviously smarter than Tom Sawyer, because Tom actually believed in everything he read in those pirates and robber books and Huck didn’t. But Huck’s intelligence is really shown when he fakes his own death. His plan of making it seem as if he was murdered by putting pig blood everywhere, flour footprints, and even by putting hair on the tip was of the bloody axe was genius. But I think Huck underestimates himself. I think he brings himself down to Tom Sawyer like in this line, “Nobody could spread himself like Tom Sawyer in such a thing as that.” E. I think Huck also underestimates how much people love him. He always complaining that he is lonely and that he wishes he had a friend, but it becomes apparent that people do care about him in society. He describes a ferry packed with people searching for his body, including the judge and Tom. He also says “It was “baker’s bread”—what the quality eat; none of your low-down corn-pone,” that they used to find his body. B. I think these chapters are the point of no return for Huck’s adventure. This is the real beginning of his odyssey. He escaped Paps, faked his death, and is now with a runaway slave meaning he can’t return to his old life without repercussions. He begins a new strong relationship with Jim allowing him to continue his journey. So he begins this new life

Sean de los Santos Mr. Thomas English 11 12 December 2013 Discussion 7- A.This story reminds me of the present idea that kids with out any education or teaching can still be smart in a common sense way. Huck Finn never went to any type of schooling until recently. Although he doesn't have this fortune of learning, he goes on to show he is smart through his fake death. This is the same for some children who don't have the luxury of school. These kids can be naturally smart. Kids can be born curious and intuitive just like Huck Finn. C.There are some questions that come out of this set of chapters. One question is, What in the world is quicksilver? Huck Finn tells us that, "they always put quicksilver in loaves of bread and floats them off because they go right to the drowned.(36)" this confused me quite a bit due tot he fact that it is right after the civil war and no one knew what these things are. E.One idea I found while reading this set of chapters is the idea of sanctuary after war. Huck Finn finally found something he never had in a long time, Sanctuary. He finally fond a friend and he finally found safety from pap and the others. This is a huge thing for Huck because he is one of the most unfortunate boys in the world and now that he is alone he finally found some-thing made made him even happier than before. He finally he found the basic happiness he need-ed in life.

Michael Annunziata Mr. Thomas English 11 12, 10, 13 A. One thing that I can relate to from this reading is how Huck runs away from home. In every child’s life at some point they think about running away and if they can handle it or not. Some kids don’t do it at all, some kids leave then come right back within that day, but then there are kids like Huck who run away for good and don’t come back. Not many people have the courage to take up the world on their own and for Huck to do that just shows how much of a strong hearted person he really is and how serious he is to be successful in life.
B. One thing that I liked a lot was the way Huck tricked all the people into thinking that he was dead. The way he pulled his hair out of his head and put it on the axe is just astonishing. You would never think a kid his age would be doing the things that he is doing to get away from home, and it just shows how much potential he has to become live a happy life.
C. One thing that I was a little bit confused about is what’s next for Huck. I mean yes he ran away from home, but at what cost. Was it really worth it for him to leave behind everything and to try to start over his life by himself?

Marvin Etienne Mr. Thomas English 11 8 December 2013 Huck Finn Chapters 7-9 A. Huck is pretty clever with his plan of escape from his treacherous father. He is actually really cunning because his plan actually fooled his dad into believing that he was murdered. I still think that Pap should be gotten rid of, but at least he is out of Huck's life. It must have taken a while to concoct such a plan, it was brilliant. I think Huck is capable of living a good life if he sets his mind to it similarly to how he did with the plan. B. The relationship between Jim and Huck is growing. They both are runaways and I think along the way, they will need each other to survive. I think with Huck's cunning mind and Jim's superstitious approach will get them by. I wonder what is going to happen with the widow, Tom, and Pap. I believe that Pap will just continue to push for that money from the judge. I do not think that he will care about his son's well being. I. I have to give George praise for his Tupac reference. I think it is spot on for Huck's situation. Life has its ups and downs, but something good awaits everyone at the end of the day. I believe that Huck will ultimately make the most of his life and now that he is out of the constraints of his father, he will be able to live a better life.
