e. "during our passage i saw flying fishes, which surprised me veery much : they used frequently to fly across the ship and many of them fell on the deck." Hes such a young kid having these new experiences in a life of hell. He does know that what he is involved in is one of the cruelest things that man kind has ever done. This sight of him seeing these flying fish and him saying that it was the first time that he ever saw the ocean were moment were my heart dropped because as a young kid i mostly grew up on the beach. How can one not be aquatinted with it.
a. "but now that the whole ship's cargo were confined together it became absolutely pestilential. the closeness of the place and the heat of the climate, added to the number in the ship, which was so crowded that each had scarcely room to turn himself, almost suffocated." a very descriptive from the boys eyes. It is Extremely sad to see people in such a terrible condition. Yet the boy never states that he is scared in that moment. Where it was hot has hell and he couldn't even breath he kept his cool and went along with it. If that was me i would have probably lost my mind.
I. How does this boy not just go insane. Anyone and everyone who went through this saw so much hard ship and problems that he has to kinda lose this cool eventually.

Marvin Etienne Mr. Thomas English 11 29 October 2013 A. It's shocking to see Equaino show little to no emotion through all of this horrible mistreatment and torture. He bounces around from place to place and it is not pleasant at all. People on the ships would rather die and commit suicide than to be forced to live such a harsh life. On the other hand, when He mentions how everyone is separated from their loved ones, like "a brother being separated from his sister," this is the only time he shows emotion. It's sort of the boiling point for him because he feels like the buyers are cruel and claim to be good people but are not. D. One quote that stood out to me was when he says, "I asked them if we were not to be eaten by those white men with horrible looks, red faces, and loose hair." This shows how he is unfamiliar with the situation and he is thinking about the worst possible scenario to be in. Of course they are not going to eat him, but I think that is what fear does to him. He feels uncertain and unsure of what is to come next. I. I agree with Danny O'Keefe when he says that the story used great detail about how the conditions on the ships were. It's kind of scary knowing that's how they were treated. I knew it was a bad experience, but I never knew that it was that extreme. It's almost hard to read knowing that a person went through such despair.

Matthew Segarra Mr. Thomas English 11 30 October 2013 A – Whenever we are stuck in a sticky situation, we try to become more comfortable by finding people in the same situation as you. In Xavier, there are not many Hispanic or African American kids. Whenever I see one at Xavier, I try to talk to them or become friends with them. I feel like it will be easier to make friends within people of your background.
D – This quote made me wonder about the will power of the slaves, “Everyone of their countenances expressing dejection and sorrow, I no longer doubted of my fate” (58). You should not just give up when times are tough. You should fight for what you believe in and what you want, not accept defeat. There is a higher chance to succeed if you try than if you do not try at all.
I – Most of the stories we have read so far have been sad and depressing. There is an overwhelming amount of grief and despair in this chapter. Since this is the overall tone throughout the story, it can give us a hint as to what might happen in the end. This is like many of the puritan stories that we have read, which have mostly depressing tones for the whole story with no twist.
