A. This story can relate to many gothics in today’s world because that is how the story is written. It is written in a very gothic style and has many similarities to character of a common gothic. I personally think it is strange but others may find it comfortable and be proud of it. I know Edgar Allen Poe does many of his stories in a gothic style of literature but out of all the ones I have read by him so far this is the most gothic.
C. One thing that confused me was that the narrator did not know that Roderick had a sister. If he is the narrator then why doesn’t he know everything about the story and even what is going to happen in the future. Was Poe using this as a style? Or type of writing?
D. What I like about this story is that it is extremely dark and you can’t really get a read on what is going to happen next. Not only do I not know what is going to happen but the narrator doesn’t even know. You can tell that the narrator is surprised at some times.

A. THe house reminds me of a face. I love they way they demonstrate they scariness of the house. " there was an iceness, a sinking, a sickening of the heart- an unredeemed dreariness of thought which no goading of the imagination could torture into aught of the sublime." It brings out the the creeps.
i. Why was this man called upon by the his friend? they have no connection. They are childhood friends that lost touch after awhile. It doesnt have any connection with the present day fact that there is nothing between them. Why would you want some "stranger" at your bed side when your dying.
e. I thought the whole welcoming scene was strange. : "upon my entrance, usher arose from a sofa on which he had been lying at full length, and greeted me with a vivacious warmth which had much in it, i at first thought, of an overdone cordiality-- of the constrained effort of the ennute man of the world." such a strange way to welcome a friend that you havent seen in a long time. plus extremely awkward.
