a. I like the story alot a better then the rest. Just the opening its self " So that, thus it is. that natural men are held in the hand of god over the pit of hell: they have deserved the fiery pit." Its a very positive way of opening up any passage. But over all alot more interesting then the rest because it gives you a really different out look on life. Through the puritan eyes if you may. also it really wasnt sugar coated like it wasn't to deep and it didnt feel like i was decoding this reading.
d. "The use of this awful subject may be for awakening unconverted persons in the congregation. this that you have heard is the case of everyone of you that are out of christ. That world of misery, that lake of burning brimstone, is extended abroad under you. there is the dreadful pit of the glowing flames of the wrath of god;" Hands down favorite line in everything ive read soo far for this class. Very vivid and makes the most sense out of everything. It makes alot of sense and i totally support it.
E. The narrator is kind of looking at a very negative side of life. I really wish he would improve his outlook on life. He should go to one of those masses where they sing and feel the power of god in there body. I feel like it could cheer him up a bit because honestly he just needs to see some people fully devoted to god and i think there he may find some.

Michael Annunziata Mr. Thomas English 11 9/15/13 A. “O sinner! Consider the fearful danger you are in” (page 48 right middle) this quote from the reading is Edward saying this to those who are not following the Puritans. I can relate to this not in a religious way but in a social way when talking about people being straight and Gay sexual speaking. For years now there has been so much controversy on whether or not being gay should be legalized. It has not been legal forever until a couple of years ago, nut although it has been ruled legal many people still don’t think it should be just like how there has been religious hate around even when the Puritans stood this earth. C. One of the things that I found most interesting is that Edward doesn’t exactly despise god but he really isn’t a big fan of him while the puritans live there life based on God and his belief. That is what I thought was most interesting about this peace. B. This story helps to create an image of what hell is really like. It got a little weird with it describing with what can and what can’t help you in hell. It also described Gods role in hell when god should have nothing to do in hell being that, that is the Devils place.

E. My reaction to this short story by Jonathan Edwards was that I enjoyed reading. It was a lot easier of a rad compared to the recent short stories and poems we have been reading. The things I did not like about this short story was the way he wrote about God. He made God seem like an angry person. On page 46 Edwards says, his anger is as great toward them as to those that are actually suffering the educations of his fierceness of His wrath in hell" (46). Edwards made God seem like he is angry at us but we know that he is not angry at us in real life. A."To see so many rejoicing and singing for joy of heart, while you have cause to mourn for sorrow of heart and howl for vexation of spirit" (50). I think I can relate this to what people see everyday. When someone who is mourning and they see people who are rejoicing can have a good or bad affect on them. It could make them more mad or it could make them happier because you think of good things. When I am sad and I see my friends are happy it makes me happy.
D. A line I enjoyed is "you are now in a happy state, with their hearts filled with love to him who has loved them"(50). I enjoyed that line because it makes us believe that when people go to heaven they are happy. It helps some people cope with death because they know that they are happy now.
