Crucible
A. Even though this has never happened to me, I can picture someone getting sick now, especially with all the different cancers, and one doctor has no idea how to cure it. Another doctor may have an idea what is wrong, but again, has not idea on how to cure the cancer. I personally can see why the women need to fetch a doctor quickly because they have no idea on what might be wrong with Betty. Unfortunately for them, they are getting worried and it might not be anything at all. In that time period, if someone got sick, you did not know if if was deadly or not deadly. If it was a deadly sickness, you would not have any idea on how to treat it or how to make the person feel better, and if was not deadly, you would still not know how treat it, or make the person comfortable. Both of these sicknesses, deadly and non-deadly, may have several of the same symptoms that each of them share, and then if you do ask a doctor what is wrong with her/him, the doctor would still have no idea on what is wrong.
E. The people of Salem can accuse anyone to be a witch because that whole town lives in fear that someone may be able to do some magic to harm each other. I would not like to be on the accusing end, because if I am wrong, I would take a life away. I would not like to be on the witch/wizard side of this predicament, because if you are not one and you are accused, you are put to death or the test that kills you in order to see if you are a witch/wizard.
B. What I personally like about the Crucible is that fact that the characters seem like they are all connected in some close relationship to one another. I feel this when Mrs. Putnam seems to know what is wrong with Betty but not know how to treat the illness. Mrs. Putnam says “The psalm! The psalm! She cannot bear to hear the Lord’s name.” I personally find this funny because I thought the Puritans were really close to God and that they thought the Bible was the thing that would destroy them if they read it. The puritans did not like the Bible at all, even the believed in God one hundred percent.
