Connor Ryan Mr. Thomas English 11 10/14/13 D. A line I really enjoyed was "I have confessed myself! Is there no good penitence but it be public? God does not need my name nailed upon the church! God sees my name; God knows how black my sins are! It is enough!"(1272). These lines show that Proctor does not want to sign his name on the confession sheet. He believes that him confessing orally to working for the devil is enough and he does not have to sign it. I enjoyed these lines because it shows Proctor is sticking up for what he believes is right. He does not believe that the name is needed so he does not want to sign it. I. I agree with John's answer to question e. John Proctor is such an inspiration to people because he sticks up for what he believes in. He is my favorite character because he does not lie about seeing other people with the devil like most of the town people were doing. He is the only person to stick up to the court because he knows they are wrong. A. A line that I believe can relate to a modern issue is "is that document a lie? If it is a lie I will not accept it! ... You will give me your honest confession in my hand or I cannot keep you from the rope"(1272). I believe this line can relate to a modern issue because you need your signature for almost everything. Every time you you are doing something you always need to sign your signature.

Michael Annunziata Mr. Thomas English 11 10,14,13 A. One of the things that I can really relate too that was in this part of the reading was the way John Proctor admits to something he didn’t do when he knows that he has to do this to help other people out. For, example one time my brother got in trouble so many times in a week where he was on the verge of getting punished for about a month. But when he snuck out of the house and almost got caught I covered for him so that he would not get into severe trouble and told m parents that I was the one who snuck out of the house not my brother. C. One thing that I was extremely confused about at this part of the reading was when Paris and Hale tell Elizabeth to run to proctor. Not only do I not understand why Paris would tell her to go run to proctor but I also don’t understand by what she actually told him. Like what was she trying to say exactly when she said “ he have his goodness now”. That is why it was the most confusing thing for me during this reading. I. My peer John Marano said in his answer to E that he can honestly say he loves John Proctor and I can somewhat agree. In the beginning of the play I really didn’t like him that much but as the play went on he started to grow and he and me has mentally forced me to like him. But I do not like him enough where I love him.

Marvin Etienne Mr. Thomas English 11 12 October 2013 The Crucible A. This ending to The Crucible was really depressing and gloomy. I feel like this whole mix up starting with Abigail is making people lose their lives and property and good name. All of this could have been avoided and I still cannot fathom as to why the court takes the word of a teenage girl claiming to be practicing witchcraft. Proctor becomes more respectful because he thinks of his family when he makes his decision. He wants to preserve his good name that was tarnished by this evil little girl. When he rips up his confession, I felt proud of him because it was a brave move but it was the right move. E. There were several things that stood out to me in the text but what stood out the most was Rebecca nurse keeping a level head and bringing up final judgement. I think that she understands that justice will be served at the end of this chaos, and the righteous will be honored and the evil will be punished. D. What stood out to me was that Proctor tells Danforth to say, "Proctor broke his knees and cried like a woman." If proctor is search for preservation of his name, is that not still degrading his name anyways? Telling someone to say that you acted like a woman is not really honorable. I understand what Proctor wants, but I don't get why he would still want his name to be disrespected in some sharp or form.

D. “Because its my name”. This was the best quote in the entire play. Honestly John Proctor is the man. He goes through this whole scene of signing the confession which had me infuriated that he gave in to Danforth. Then he realizes what he is doing. I honestly almost cried when this happened. It was so inspirational to see that someone in the town finally realized their reputation or their name was worth fighting for. It was a great thing to watch.
A. I really enjoy John Proctor. He is such an inspirational character. He was so dynamic during this play it is awesome! He was being forced to do something he wasn’t comfortable doing. He stood up to authoritative figures and he didn’t care for any consequences. This is really how most revolutions begin around the world. In Syria today, the rebels finally had enough and stood up to authoritative figures.
B. The biggest question that I had was what happened to the people in charge. Did they just fade away and try to cover their tails? How did the society react to the top governmental figures being wrong about this whole ordeal?
