C. What is it that Gatsby is hiding? When Nick asks him what he does for a living all he says was drugs, oil, and none of your business. Even the things he sort of explains he doesn’t give much detail on. Also the job he offers Nick seems kind of sketchy too. Could this be a connection back to when he got out of trouble with the cops? Also he made his money rather quickly too which adds to the suspicion of what he does. He made his money after the war because he lost his inheritance during the war. I. In response to John’s question about Nick not taking the job offer that Gatsby gave him, he probably didn’t take it because he doesn’t know what the job even is. It sounds kind of sketchy because Gatsby isn’t willing to tell him what it is. Usually if a friend offers another friend a job they usually give as much information as possible about it so the person knows what they are going to be doing. Also, Nick is probably too prideful to accept a handout from someone else. We’ve seen flaws in his character in the past and that is probably another flaw that he has. A. They way Gatsby’s house is lit up reminds me of a carnival or something like that. It seems really grand and it attracts people’s attention for people to want to go there. Plus the way Nick say that it looked like there was a fire over there is similar to how bright a carnival can be at night time.

Michael Annunziata Mr. Thomas English 11 3,13,14 A. One thing that I noticed in this chapter was that we see Gatsby using his wealth to win daisy over, which isn’t surprising being that he’s been doing this since we started the book. I can relate to this from watching the movie the Titanic. The rich guy tries to win Rose over by buying her things and impressing her parents. But as you see in the movie she doesn’t like him even though he has so much wealth and she doesn’t want to be with him that’s how I can relate this part of the book to the Titanic. B. One thing that I found that was very significant was the talk that happened between Daisy and the Gatsby. The fact that daisy actually started crying just shows that she does actually care and she does have some feelings for Gatsby. This is very surprising because she has been leading not only Gatsby but also me, on that road that she doesn’t have any feelings and she doesn’t really care for him. That is why I found that this part in the reading was the most interesting part in it. C. One thing that has confused me throughout this reading, and that has been confusing me throughout every reading is who Gatsby really is. We haven’t been told his life story and I personally can’t really get a good understanding of him and what he is about.

a. This is the first time you see gatbsy be scared/ nervous. He is soo worried about seeing Daisy. "WIth his hands still in his coat pockets he stalked by me into the hall, turned sharply as if he were on a wire, and disappeared into the living room. It wasnt a bit funny. Aware of the loud beating of my own heart pulled the door against the increasing rain." Its a new kind of way to look at Gatbsy because he his displayed as a strong and confident person.
E. THE CONVO IS SOOOOOO PAINFUL. They describe the scenes extremely awkwardly to the point where it literally hurt me. I wanted Gatsby to just to grow a pair of balls and have a nice convo with the love of his life. He talks about the rain and how he has met her before. it just... no! He knowns how to talk to women, its practically his job.
D. Nick is a valid wing man. i mean he put in alot of work and was trying to hold it down for gatsby as much as he can. nicks relationship with daisy is weird to. i think theres some kind of attraction there to. When she comes she asked if nick was in love with her. He has the ability to get her to come over in a fun call without her husband.. i dont know stuff seems a little weird to me.

Joseph Roperti Mr. Thomas English 11 4/15/14 A. There was one part in which I was able to relate to gatsby in this chapter. When nick comes back gatsby goes to him to see how his conversation with jordan went. I can fully relate to this by when one of my friends has a serious conversation with a girl or any person always wanting to know how it went or what happened. It shows how gatsby is just a normal man he's not this prodigal son that many perceive him as. c. another part of the chapter i really enjoyed was the point at which gatsby and nicks relationship showed their peak. Gatsby offers to him for his grass to be ct and shortly after he makes that call to daisy and invites her over. Gatsby is almost like a little kid and is shaking and nervous. he hasn't seen daisy and hers and wants to renew what they possibly might have had I. i agree with all of John's question because many questions have been answered in previous chapters but these seem to foreshadow something more in the book and shows that all of these mysteries in this chapter will foretell something to happen in which wee can not predict right now
