A. Stanley reminds me of many people I know. It is quite obvious that he is just concerned with himself and doesn’t care about other people. He treats his wife like crap and tries ruining the reputation or little secret of Blanche. He even goes as far as ruining the “relationship” between Mitch and Blanche. ALL THIS ON HER OWN BIRTHDAY LIKES COME ON. This reminds me of the stubborn, self-concerned people that think they run everything. In the beginning of the story I was intrigued by his unique character, and now, even though I’m not huge fan of Blanche, I can’t stand what Stanley is doing. He doesn’t even care that he is trying to ruining the relationship between Blanche and Stella. C. I have some questions for the reading. What are these rumors that are going around about Blanche? She is obviously scared for Stella to find out so is it something major? Also, why does Stanley just avoid a kiss from his wife? This is kid of showing the male superiority and how controlling he is. Is Blanche the way she is with guys because of her past experience with her ex husband? I feel like because he cheated on her she just became this out of control girl who wants to sleep with anyone. Lastly, what was Blanche doing that she was literally escorted out of a hotel? I know she is a little on the cookoo side but what could she have possibly done? E. I was completely shocked by what Blanche did in scene 5 when the newspaper boy came to the house. He is obviously a boy and Blanche just kisses him. I was like what the hell!!! Blanche is supposed to be going on a date yet minutes before Mitch arrives she cheats on him. I was like what because earlier in the scene Blanche reveals to Stella that she does in fact like Mitch but obviously that was a lie. I was also kind of upset because I like Mitch. He is the genuine, quiet guy that every girl should want. I am upset because I feel like he will end up being played by Blanche who seems to be getting around the neighborhood.

George Baroudos Mr. Thomas English 11 9 April 2014
A – Blanche believes Stanley is an Aries. This coerces her to believe that he is forceful and dynamic. This description of an Aries is decently accurate. I am an Aries and I would like to think I am forceful in a good way. When I need something done I will get it done no matter what. I would also like to believe that I am dynamic. I believe I have many dimensions to the person I am and I hope to express that on a consistent basis.
D – “Sometimes-there’s God” (116). I disagree with Blanche on this one. I believe there is always a God. God is always surrounding us and he is always present. Often times it is hard to see God in all things, but we must try and look at the other side of things. If we begin to look into the past of Blanche we see that she has been on a hard path. Usually having a rough past makes it difficult to see God in all things. We are left with a difficult obstacle to get over and it is not always easy.
I – People will always have opinions. As humans we are always entitled to our own formulated opinion. The opinions of Blanche are disgusting and even if they are true they do not need to be spread around. Just like in West Egg the opinions of others holds weight within society. The opinions of others ultimately costs Blanche her shot with Mitch. It is not Stanley’s place to relay all of the information of the town. I respect the fact that he is looking out for his friend, but he does not know if all of that is true. As humans we go out on a limb and run with what we got. Sometimes none of it is true, other times it all is true. It is the luck of the draw, but we should stay out of other people’s business.

E. In this chapter we learn a lot about Blanche, and all of it is fairly interesting. We learn that her husband committed suicide, which was because of Blanches actions. We also learn that she wasn’t living in wealthy for the past few years, but she was basically a prostitute. She is very judgmental on Stella being with Stanley, but from what we learned in these few chapters, she doesn’t deserve to be giving anyone advice on relationships.
D. In this chapter we learn that Blanche has no self-control. She pretty much forces the paper boy to kiss her, which was extremely weird. She was actually fired for having an affair with one of her 17 year old students. She is weirdly attracted to underage boys, which is a very big problem. I don’t understand why she is so attracted by these boys.
E. Once again in these scenes we see that Stanley is a very harsh and cruel person. All on Blanches birthday Stanley tells Mitch what he finds out about Blanche and also buys her a bus ticket so she can leave. I don’t understand why he has to do all this stuff on her birthday, but I guess if I had someone disrupting my house I wouldn’t really care when I did this to them either.

Matthew Bourdon Mr. Thomas English 11 4/9/14 B. The theme of domestic violence is definitely a major part within this story and mainly a major part within this community. “What’s a matter with Eun-uss? Stella: She and Steve had a row. Has she got the police?” (Page 87) This is significant because it shows the type of environment that this is. This is not only going on with Stanley and Stella alone, it is also going on with Eunice and Steve and it is really bad. This theme is one that sets a sad tone for the story and in some way refers back to the beginning of the play which talked about a “blue piano”. It has definitely set the mood for the story as a sad one. F. We finally see that Blanche is not lying for once! She finally explains to Mitch the story about how her husband died. “He’d stuck the revolver in his mouth and fired – so that the back of his head had been – blown away!” (Page 115) Blanche found her husband sleeping with another man and when she confronted him angrily and harshly about it he shot himself to death. I agree now with the comments made in class on how both Stella and Blanche both need someone to co-depend on. They both faced different obstacles but it affected both the sisters in the same way. This sort of made me feel a little sympathy towards Blanche as I realize she is just a character who has a lot of problems. I. I agree with John’s point on Stanley. It angered me to see Stanley just terminate something that could’ve cured Blanche’s issues and might of reverted her back to a normal person. By Mitch not wanting anything to do with Blanche, her problem is never going to get solved. I really hate Stanley as a character.

a. Blanche is an emotional mess. She crying, shaking, laughing, seducing through out all 3 senses. I dont understand why she feel about toward her sister, she says that stella does so much for her, when it looks like blanche is really the one looking out for her. What is her deal with mitch, it seems to be serious because he bought her a ticket to lurel, but at the same time is blanche going to be able to recover from her past relationship with the gay guy. I really dont understand blanche she just a mess.
e. Stan is keeping a low profile during these scenes, He makes a couple witty remarks, but jokingly. He even laughs at the fight that break out between his upstairs neighbors. He some strange guy. Stella seems happy though through the last few scenes, her and stan have been going out and talk, but not arguing.
c. What is Mitch so attracted to blanche about? Blanche is playing way to hard to get to the point were im annoyed for Mitch. Is he just trying to settle down because thats his moms dying wish. Also what does blanche see in mitch, i dont get the attraction between them.

Michael Annunziata A. One thing that I can relate to while reading this part of the book is that Stanley is much like most people in this world. Stanley only cares about himself and is a very selfish person. He reminds me of many people I know because as you can see this world isn’t perfect and many people don’t care about anything else bus themselves. Its very said how these people act because they could accomplish so much more if they just saw a different side to things and helped out others that are in need. That’s what I can relate to after reading this part of the book. B. One thing that I noticed that is a big deal not only in this book but in reality is the violence. In the book it is shown that most of peoples arguments and anger is solved by hurting someone physically. That’s the way it is in real life as well, many people in this world today want to resolve their problems by fighting one another and in the end it is not worth it because no one wins in a fight. It clearly just makes more sense to resolve the problems in a more civil way rather then doing it physically. D. One thing that we learn In this part of the book is that Blanche has absolute Zero self control, in her sexual ways. She kisses the paper boy when he really didn’t want to and she got fired for having an affair.

A. Holy crap, the thing with Blanche’s ex-husband caught me completely off guard. Now everything is starting to make sense to me. It makes sense why she is so uneasy whenever she talks about her ex-husband. I mean that’s really messed up. Not only does he cheat on her but with another dude too. Also, it makes sense why she blames herself because he kills himself after she confronts him in a drunken spectacle. That would mess me up too if something like that happened to me. This may also explain why she is so flirtatious. Sometimes when a tragedy like this happens people respond in very different ways. C. Why would Stanley sabotage Blanche’s relationship with Mitch? He didn’t need to do something like that. He’s acting like a child who isn’t getting his way. Shaw may not even be a trustworthy source for all we know he could have a vendetta against Blanche. Stanley just continues to be a jerk to Blanche who hasn’t done anything to deserve this kind of treatment from him. Also, why would he feel it’s necessary? He says it’s because Mitch is his army buddy but I feel like he doesn’t even like Mitch that much. He didn’t seem to treat him well when they were together. I. In response to Foti’s question about Mitch, I don’t think Blanche is playing with Mitch I think she is being cautious about who she let into her life. Clearly she has had very bad experiences with people she et get close to her so I’m not surprised she is cautious now.
